SHEA / SHEAP

Protecting the safety and health of our contracted partners and the environment is one of the pillars of our success at Kennecott Utah Copper (KUC). When contractors work at KUC, we expect them to work safely. The foundation to working safely is to know and understand the controls for the area hazards at KUC facilities.

KUC uses the Safety, Health and Environmental Analysis (SHEA) to communicate the recognized hazards associated with our processes. KUC representatives fill out the SHEA because they are familiar with the potential area hazards at their facility. The contracting company responds to the SHEA through a Safety, Health and Environmental Action Plan (SHEAP). The SHEAP outlines the actions the contractor will take to control or mitigate the KUC area hazards outlined in the SHEA.
